Eager to brush up on your Shakespeare or perhaps ready to face your fear of it? This workshop is a fantastic place to start! Shakespeare requires both excellent technique and truthful emotional commitment. Accordingly, the more you dive in and explore what Shakespeare has to offer you, the more you can apply those lessons to all aspects of your acting career, whether for film or stage.
Wherever you are in your process with Shakespeare, Brendon will help you sharpen your focus, discipline, and passion for the material.
• New to Shakespeare – find how to connect emotionally to the material, and overcome the clichés and myths surrounding his work
• Been awhile since working on the Bard – you’ll find how smoothly you can dive back in and re-connect with an old monologue
• Fairly experienced – Brendon will take you to the next level of detail and specificity in the language
Participants should come with a Shakespeare monologue you are excited about and have done full circle homework on. You are welcome to memorize your monologue or, having done all homework, bring it in like a work-session and play. If you wish to have a piece suggested to you, sign up and Brendon will be happy to steer you in the right direction prior to the class.
You will leave this workshop no longer feeling intimidated by Shakespeare and have sharper tools to apply to any genre of your work as an actor. Bring a willingness to risk and a sense of humor as we banish once and for all any dusty or pretentious visions you may have of Shakespeare!
